What is XRP?
XRP is the cryptocurrency that is managed by Ripple, an international payment network owned by Ripple Labs.
The company has its own blockchain system, RippleNet, which is designed to support faster cross-border payment transactions.
RippleNet can handle up to 1,500 transactions every second. The digital asset XRP is used by many banks and financial institutions and is often referred to as a security, rather than a cryptocurrency.
Ripple was designed to help with asset transfers, providing financial institutions support for cross-border payments and transactions. Unlike Bitcoin, XRP is not mined, and the transaction ledger is instead maintained by a committee of validators.
There are a total of 100 billion XRP coins in existence, though only a smaller portion of XRP coins are actually in circulation.
Acquiring XRP is easy using the swap tool built into the Rubix wallet. Instead of going to an XRP exchange and transferring, you can trade for XRP directly from your Rubix wallet.
The Rubix Swap feature supports not just XRP trading, but most major cryptocurrencies which you can easily exchange. You can even swap XRP for fiat currencies, like the dollar and euro. Rubix Swap is a simple way to manage your cryptocurrency assets. Pay for products, send funds, and make bets with friends — all while knowing your funds are safe. Keep your XRP secure with Rubix.
Who created XRP?
Ryan Fugger conceived Ripple in 2004 after working on a local exchange trading system in Vancouver. The intent was to create a monetary system that was decentralized and could effectively empower individuals and communities to create their own money. In September 2012, Chris Larsen and Jed McCaleb co-founded the corporation OpenCoin.
OpenCoin began development of the ripple protocol (RTXP) and the Ripple payment and exchange network. On April 11, 2013, OpenCoin announced it had closed an angel round of funding with several venture capital firms. That same month, OpenCoin acquired SimpleHoney to help it popularize virtual currencies and make them easier for average users.
How do I exchange and Trade XRP
Users can convert XRP to USD by finding an exchange that deals both currencies and selling your XRP. Depending on the current exchange rate, fees and spreads that the exchange charges, users will withdraw a corresponding amount of USD. In fact, it fundamentally works the same way as any other currency conversion option.
XRP isn’t the most widely-supported cryptocurrency, so the number of suitable XRP to USD exchanges isn’t very high. As a result, it can also be difficult to find a high-quality exchange. Thankfully, Rubix employs the latest safety measures and has a proven track record for fair, efficient transactions.
Rubix Swap allows you to easily trade Bitcoin and most major cryptocurrencies straight in your Rubix wallet. The trading is done completely on the backend of things. In fact, Rubix Swap settles the order books for you to minimize price slippage. This means that not only can you convert your crypto-assets to ETC near-instantly, but also at the most optimal price. Rubix Swap also supports fiat trading for ETC, allowing one to purchase ETC with major currencies like euros or dollars.
Boasting both mobile and desktop platforms, Rubix Swap is an easy means of paying for products, sending money, and making bets with friends—all while knowing your funds are safe. Keep your Ethereum Classic secure with Rubix.
