Who created AAVE?
Aave is a privately owned for-profit company based in Switzerland. The token was launched in 2017 after development by a Finnish law student named Stani Kulechov. Originally called ETHLend, the firm raised $16.2 million in its first round of funding, which took the form of an initial coin offering. The offering was successful and launched 1 billion tokens into the network, which were originally traded as LEND.
LEND was different from the current AAVE token in that the software originally tried to match up lenders with specific borrowers. This was a clumsy system that had a lot of delays, and Aave’s system of pooling funds gradually replaced it. In time, the LEND tokens were revalued at a rate of 100:1 for AAVE, which currently has 18 million tokens in circulation.
